Engineering Technologist
Job Opportunity The Electrical Engineering Technologist supports the Electronics Prototype Center (EPC) by performing hands-on printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) prototype builds, rework, testing, and lab operations. This role enables rapid product development cycles and supports engineering design validation while maintaining EPC lab capabilities.Key Responsibilities:Perform surface mount technology (SMT) PCB assembly for prototype and small-volume buildsConduct complex rework and repair including fine-pitch soldering, BGA removal/replacement, and trace repairBuild cables, fixtures, and engineering test hardwareAssist engineers with debugging, troubleshooting, and validation of electronic designsRead and interpret schematics, layouts, and engineering drawingsMaintain EPC lab equipment, tools, and materials inventorySupport procurement, shipping, and receiving of electronic componentsEnsure lab organization, safety, and operational readinessSupport multiple concurrent projects and prioritize work to meet deadlinesParticipate in continuous improvement of quality and efficiencyMinimum Qualifications:Ability or aptitude in electronics assembly and troubleshootingAbility or aptitude to read and interpret electrical schematics and PCB layoutsStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred Qualifications:Associate degree (2-year) or higher in Electrical Engineering Technology or related fieldIPC certification (or willingness to obtain)Experience with SMT soldering and PCBA reworkExperience with BGA rework techniquesFamiliarity with electronics testing and debuggingExperience with LabVIEW for test and data acquisition applicationsExperience with Python programming for scripting, automation, or data analysisExperience developing Power BI dashboards for data visualization and reportingExperience with software tools for test data analysis and trend visualizationKnowledge of ECAD tools for schematic capture, PCB layout, and design documentationExperience in prototype lab or electronics manufacturing environmentWork Environment:Hands-on laboratory environment supporting prototype PCBA builds and rework. Fast-paced setting requiring high precision and support for multiple engineering programs. On-site presence required.
