Boardcast/Transmission Engineer

A globally leading consumer device company headquartered in Cupertino, CA is looking for Broadcast/Transmission Engineer to support a high-profile global live broadcast. This is a zero-failure environment delivering to concurrently to multiple platforms worldwide. You'll work directly alongside facility EIC, supporting transmission infrastructure, signal path validation, and failover readiness. The right candidate has solid hands-on broadcast experience, is eager to contribute in a high-stakes environment, and is ready to execute from day one under direction from senior engineering staff.Job Responsibilities:Pre-Event (Weeks 1–2)Review existing transmission workflows, signal routing, and failsafe plans alongside the facility EIC; flag potential infrastructure risks for reviewAssist in validating redundancy and backup procedures across the complete signal path — from source through destination (equipment room patches, feeds to various on-campus locations)Help document signal routing diagrams, failover procedures, and recovery timelinesSupport preparation of run-of-show checklists for signal monitoring and failover executionAssist with end-to-end signal path tests, including backup/redundancy activation and restorationWork closely with the EIC/Facility Engineer to verify network stability, fiber receives/sends to remote sites, and backup circuitsParticipate in all pre-show tests, rehearsals, and platform validations to help confirm signal quality and integrityDuring the Event (Week 3)Monitor signal path health continuously from source through all delivery points, escalating anomalies to the EICSupport real-time verification of transmission infrastructure status — equipment health, signal quality, delivery endpointsAssist in executing failover procedures as directed; maintain clear communication with the EIC and operations teamMaintain live incident logs documenting all signal events, interventions, and resolutionsSupport output/ingress validation and platform-specific signal behavior across multiple delivery endpointsPost-Event (Week 3)Complete incident logs and contribute to root cause analysis for any signal eventsAssist with restoring infrastructure and monitoring systems to baseline/archival stateComplete required documentation to team systemsRequired Qualifications:3–5 years of hands-on experience in broadcast transmission or signal engineering, with exposure to live event or live broadcast workflowsWorking knowledge of redundant transmission systems, including familiarity with failover procedures and backup circuitsSolid understanding of broadcast signal distribution concepts — signal routing, encoding, and transmission protocolsFamiliarity with video signal formats and transmission standards — including SDI, fiber optics, IP-based signal transport, and real-time monitoring toolsExperience working with broadcast-grade monitoring systems — dashboards, signal health metrics (jitter, latency, packet loss), and basic incident responseComfort operating in fast-paced, high-pressure broadcast environments — live event experience is a strong plusAbility to follow and contribute to run-of-show documentation and incident logsType: ContractDuration: 3 weeksWork Location: Cupertino, CA (onsite)Pay Rate: $76.00 - $91.00/ph (DOE)
