Senior Information Technology Solutions Architect

Job Description:Overview:Join state department as an IT Solutions Architect. This role involves identifying emerging technologies, overseeing technology deployments, and supporting the operations of technology platforms and services. The position requires collaboration with agency leadership and department teams to drive technology transformation and create efficient, innovative platforms for internal and external customers.Responsibilities: • Lead ETSS resources in developing short- and long-term goals for departments and agencies. • Manage the Low-code/No-code Center of Excellence and the technical team. • Plan, design, secure, configure, and deploy applications and business systems with a focus on low-code/no-code platforms. • Identify opportunities for digital innovation and transformation. • Assess current ETSS platforms and solutions, researching and recommending enhancements or replacements as necessary. • Lead emerging technologies evaluation and standardization activities. • Implement or enhance deployment practices and change request processes. • Develop a DevOps implementation roadmap and monitor adherence. • Supervise ETSS resources in developing secure, sustainable, innovative, and scalable solutions. • Ensure proper documentation for platforms and solutions. • Provide technical assistance to the enterprise and ETSS resources on IT systems standards and design. • Assist in professional development of ETSS staff and develop long-term and short strategic staffing plans, including succession planning. • Provide coaching and mentoring to ETSS resources, identifying career paths and strategizing hiring needs. • Plan and deliver long-term ETSS roadmap. • Work under the administrative direction of Senior ETSS Leadership, exercising initiative and independent judgment. • Supervise and review the work of professional and technical staff.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Thorough knowledge of IT management systems and practices. • Ability to apply IT knowledge in planning, organization, direction, coordination, and administration of management and support functions. • In-depth knowledge of government organization and functions. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with state officials. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to supervise central information management systems and technical staff. • Ability to plan, supervise, direct, and review the work of professional, technical, and clerical staff.Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or a closely related field such as Business Management or Public Administration. • Completion of specialized information technology and research training courses. • Considerable experience in a responsible solution architect position managing major IT support operations. • Extensive experience with technology advancements such as low-code/no-code platforms, data and AI implementations, cloud infrastructure, and zero-trust architecture. • Experience in writing technical procedures and policy documents. • Experience with enterprise and/or departmental applications. • Or any combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to the above.Work Schedule: • Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM • Location: Providence, RI
