POSITION DESCRIPTIONTITLE: Custodial Worker IIDEPARTMENT: Lucas County FacilitiesWORK HOURS: (1) 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday - Friday(2) 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday(3) 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday - FridayPAY GRADE: Grade 16STATUS: Classified; Bargaining UnitFLSA: Non-ExemptJOB SUMMARYUnder supervision from the Facilities Custodial and Grounds Supervisor or maintenance supervisor, provides all necessary custodial services to maintain a clean and healthy environment within and around county buildings.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSCleans offices, including, but not limited to:Wash mirrors, doors, door glass, radiatorDust blinds; dust and polish all furniture, including telephones,Sweep and mop floors daily; vacuum all carpeted areas, dailyEmpty wastebaskets and replace liners, as needed, and wash wastebaskets, asDust and clean all books, bookcases and bookshelvesDisinfect door handles and phonesReplace tissues, paper towels and sanitary napkins as neededFill soap dispensers as neededClean all fixtures, mirrors and partitions, empty wastebaskets and replace linersSweep and mop floorsClean wallsDisinfect door handles / latches calculators, desk lamps and partitions neededClean bathrooms, including, but not limited to: Responsible to perform custodial duties at all other County owned buildings that are within the control and responsibility of the Lucas County Commissioners.Additional duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAny combination of education, skills, or experience deemed to be acceptable by the employer.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of departmental policies and procedures; safety practices and procedures; equipment, cleaning products and other materials used in custodial services; methods for cleaning.Skill in operation of manual and motorized equipment.Ability to interact and communicate effectively in a tactful and courteous manner with a variety of people, including employees, and the public.Ability to count whole numbers; read signs and labels; communicate with supervisor; follow oral and written instructions; perform light manual labor, lifting up to 30 lbs.UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONSIncumbent may be exposed to cleaning chemicals and fumes.
