Software Engineer
ABOUT TITAN DYNAMICSFounded in 2023, we build additively manufactured UAS and software for commercial and defense customers. Our field-tested fixed-wing, multirotor, and VTOL systems deliver combat-proven performance, rapid adaptability, and lower-cost scalability, powered by proprietary technology that can auto-generate UAS designs and enable deployable factories to produce thousands of aircraft wherever they are needed. We design, print, and fly at a pace traditional aerospace can't match.THE ROLEPrometheus is the software heart of Titan Dynamics: it takes mission requirements as input and outputs a complete, manufacturable, flight-ready aircraft design, including aerodynamics, structures, avionics placement, documentation and print files. You'll be a core engineer on Prometheus, and you'll contribute across our broader software stack.At Titan, the design-build-fly loop is measured in hours or days. You'll auto-generate an aircraft, watch it print, see it fly the same day, then feed what you learned back into the next iteration of Prometheus itself.Outside of Prometheus, Titan maintains several other software suites, such as PPS (Performance Prediction Software) and various Open Source tools. You will have the opportunity to contribute to these codebases and new ones as we expand our solutions.You'll be one of a small number of engineers with enormous ownership. The software you write will directly generate aircraft that get printed, flown, and fielded.WHAT YOU'LL DO• Design and build core Prometheus features: design generation pipelines, performance prediction, geometry handling, and user-facing workflows• Integrate with technologies that enable Prometheus and our other software to receive an ATO (authority to operate)• Contribute to our growing open-source software stack such as TitanPlanner, TitanGroundControl and more• Build internal tooling that accelerates aircraft design, manufacturing, and flight test• Work directly with aero, electrical, and manufacturing engineers.WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping real products (10+ preferred)• Deep proficiency in Python, with C++ or TypeScript experience welcomed• Comfort with geometry, math-heavy code, or scientific/engineering computing. You don't need to be an aerodynamicist, but you shouldn't fear a rotation matrix• Ability to own features end-to-end: scoping, building, testing, shipping, iterating• Startup mindset: pragmatic, fast, and allergic to unnecessary processWe embrace modern tooling, and using AI coding agents is allowed and encouraged. But the experience bar exists because you need the judgment to review, direct, and own everything that ships.NICE TO HAVE• Experience with drones, ArduPilot/PX4, MAVLink, or ground control software (QGroundControl, Mission Planner)• Background in CAD/geometry kernels, computational geometry, or 3D graphics (NX, Fusion360, Blender, OpenVSP, mesh processing)• Experience with desktop or mobile application development (JavaFX, Qt, Kotlin)• You fly FPV, build RC aircraft, or 3D print things for funDETAILS• Location: Torrance, CA (on-site; the aircraft your code designs are built down the hall)• Due to the nature of our work with the U.S. Department of Defense, applicants must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (U.S. citizen or permanent resident)If you want to write software that turns a mission requirement into a flying aircraft, this is the most direct path we know of.Pay Range: $130,000-$180,000 per year.
