Title: Senior Director of EngineeringLocation: San Jose, CACompensation: $250,000-$300,000 base salaryRSU and Bonus package over $300,000Duration: Full-timeRequired Skills & Experience• 18+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree OR 16+ years with a Master’s degree• 6+ years of engineering management experience• 7+ years of experience delivering enterprise software related to Kubernetes• Experience leading and scaling multiple engineering teams, including managers of managers• Deep technical experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native platforms• Experience owning end-to-end SDLC for production-grade enterprise platforms• Experience defining and executing technical strategy and engineering roadmaps• Active involvement or significant contributions to Kubernetes or CNCF projects (maintainer, contributor, or SIG leader)Experience as a thought leader in AI-driven development Nice to Have Skills & Experience• Experience with virtualization platforms such as vSphere, NSX, or vSAN Job DescriptionWe are seeking a visionary Director of Engineering to lead the development of Kubernetes Service and strategic contributions to the CNCF upstream community. This isn't just a management role; it’s a seat at the table for the future of the private cloud. Reporting to Senior Leadership, you will have the mandate to define and execute on the product vision while making strategic investments in the upstream community to deliver a killer k8s experience. Key Responsibilities• Day-to-day leadership of multiple engineering teams delivering the Kubernetes Services• Own end-to-end delivery, reliability, security, and lifecycle management of VKS• Drive deep integration of VKS with vSphere, NSX, and vSAN• Partner with architects, product, and program leadership to align on roadmap and execution• Mentor engineering managers and senior engineers across a global organization
