Principal AI Software Engineer – Secure SDLCLocation: Round Rock, TXWork Arrangement: Fully onsiteIndustry: Major global technology companyRole OverviewWe are seeking a Senior AI Software Engineer to design, build, and deploy production-grade AI capabilities across the software development lifecycle (SDLC). This role focuses on AI-assisted development, agentic systems, code assurance, security automation, and integrations with enterprise engineering platforms.The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering and systems design experience with hands-on expertise in large language models, AI agents, context engineering, and secure development practices.Required Skills and QualificationsProduction experience building and deploying AI/LLM solutions with measurable business impact.Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, or a similar language.Hands-on experience with context engineering, retrieval, enterprise data grounding, memory, and structured outputs.Experience designing agentic systems, including agent loops, multi-agent orchestration, and tool/function calling.Strong software architecture skills, including API design, event-driven systems, scalable data models, and enterprise integrations.Experience evaluating and optimizing AI systems for quality, safety, reliability, cost, latency, and token usage.Knowledge of secure software development practices, automated testing, code quality, and enterprise compliance requirements.Preferred Skills and QualificationsExperience applying AI within application security, DevSecOps, code analysis, or software supply-chain security.Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) and building tools or skills for AI agents.Familiarity with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Devin.Knowledge of OWASP guidance for LLM applications and the NIST Secure Software Development Framework.Experience with AI evaluation frameworks, guardrails, and production LLMOps.Experience with prompt/response caching and production cost and performance optimization.Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
