About the Role:
Concept Solutions is seeking a Java Software Engineer to support a mission-critical application modernization program for a Department of War (DoW) customer. This position is contingent upon contract award, with an anticipated start in October 2026.The role focuses on maintaining existing Java applications while supporting the transition to a modernized platform. The program aims to provide a more unified user experience through single sign-on, a common work surface, and scalable integration of multiple applications. You will troubleshoot defects, implement scheduled patches, document legacy functionality, and help maintain application stability throughout the modernization process.
Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot and resolve defects in Java Spring Boot applications.
Develop and implement patches in line with the customer's established release schedule.
Maintain existing applications while supporting the transition to a modernized platform.
Preserve the stability and reliability of a legacy application through its planned retirement without introducing enhancements.
Document existing application capabilities to support development of the successor system.
Review, understand, troubleshoot, and safely modify unfamiliar codebases.
Support application continuity throughout the modernization effort.
Required Qualifications:
At least 3 years of experience working with Java, Spring Boot, and SQL.Demonstrated ability to understand, troubleshoot, and safely modify existing application code.
Active Secret security clearance or higher.
U.S. citizenship.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Amazon ECS/Fargate. Experience working with AWS GovCloud.
Compensation and Benefits:
Annual Base Salary: $130,000–$150,000, depending on experience.

Work Arrangement
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Full-time
Schedule:
40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
Core Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
Work Methodology: Two-week sprints, including a customer demonstration during each sprint.
Travel:
