If you already have a Candidate Account, please Sign-In before you apply.Job Description:Product Applications Engineer (Ethernet PHY/Switch Products)Are you looking for a great opportunity as a highly motivated and experienced Ethernet PHY/Switch product Applications Engineer?Leverage your background in hardware/software, systems, and technical applications engineering to provide support to Tier 1 customers, who are designing their products with Broadcom's phys and switches.In this position you will be required to become an expert in the architecture of our 100M / MultiGig Ethernet copper phys and automotive switches that allows Broadcom to sustain its market leading position. You will interface with both customers and our Field Applications Engineers supporting pre-sales activity and ensuring the successful launch of the finished products.Fundamentally your role is to help secure customer design wins and assist customers in bringing their products to market rapidly and successfully. You will contribute directly to the success of the products and customers that you support. Responsibilities include:Support of architecture and low-level hardware questions and issuesPre-sales and post-sales support via email, phone, and customer visitsDocumentationProduct definition and roadmapAnalysis of customer architecture and requirementsDebugging of complicated hardware and software issues and problemsBoard debugging and bring upSchematic and layout design reviewsTraining of customers and Field Applications EngineersYou will work directly with customers and must have good oral and written communication skills to interact with and support these customers. You will also work with a variety of internal employees in Hardware and Software Engineering, Architecture, Field Applications Engineering, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and senior management.While most work will be performed at Broadcom offices, some work will be done on customer premises necessitating travel.Broadcom offers a fast paced, exciting work environment that allows you to enjoy a variety of work tasks and advance your career as a quick learner and an industry-recognized performer.Job Requirements:BS, MS, or post-graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science).Minimum of 8+ years in relevant fields with a strong track record of success.You should have experience and/or knowledge in most if not all of the following areas:Applications EngineeringDirect customer interaction and involvementProject or time management skillsAbility to work on multiple tasks concurrentlyAbility to explain and train others on complex technologyDebugging of complicated problems or bugsHardware/software/firmware bring-upTraining of customers and/or FAEsArchitecture and Low Level Hardware/SoftwareStrong working knowledge of multi-gig copper phy ,MII, and SerDesExperience with Ethernet system and standard is preferredExperience with PCIE interface devices is plusExperience with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) and MACsecArchitecture, programming, or support of complex System on a Chip devices is a plusPractical knowledge of C, C++, Python, & Visual Basic is needed to modify/create simple function/scriptRegister level programming of complex devicesHardware, high-speed SerDes, or system (board) experience is requiredExperience with high-speed Signal Integrity issues is a plusShould be able to review PCB layout and schematicExperience using Ethernet traffic generator, High-speed scope, Jitter Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, and Network Analyzer is a plusCommunicationsExcellent written and verbal skillsFluency (conversational and/or technical) in foreign languages is a plusStrong presentation skills are desiredExcellent team-work skillsOutstanding problem solving skills and great attitude are required for this position.Additional Job Description:Compensation and BenefitsThe annual base salary range for this position is $127,100 - $226,000This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.Broadcom offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package: Medical, dental and vision plans, 401(K) participation including company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company paid holidays, paid sick leave and vacation time.
