Corporate Safety Manager
MPS Group, Inc. is seeking a Corporate Safety Manager to join our Corporate Safety Department at our Headquarters located in Farmington Hills, MI. This individual will provide comprehensive and safety-related support to the organization with emphasis on field safety support, personnel training, incident investigation, qualifying critical equipment operations, conducting audits, and participating in the company’s ISO program.Responsibilities And Job Duties Support new business and project launches which can include conducting drug screens, respirator fit testing, noise monitoring, corporate LMS, and site-specific safety training, evaluating and certifying powered industrial vehicle operators and other critical equipment. Run various reports to verify personnel training, medical monitoring, DQ requirements and equipment operator qualifications are met. Support divisions in preparing site-specific operations and safety plans, including pre-task safety plans and/or task instruction sheets. Investigate, review and assist in incident reporting to determine root cause and corrective actions to minimize recurrence of various workplace incidences, such as injuries, illnesses, vehicle accidents, property damage, near miss, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions. Verify incident reporting documents are complete for proper filing and management of W/C claims. Conducts corporate safety audits, site or facility inspections, Safety Observation Tours, and equipment inspections to assess employee compliance with the company program. Enforce compliance with federal, state and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules. Requirements And Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required or minimum of five years of occupational health and safety experience in a general industry environment is required, preferably within automotive, energy, steel, chemical, or manufacturing sectors. Strong written and oral communication skills with proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) to prepare and administer pre-task safety plans, site-specific operations and safety plans and other safety-related documents. Expert in permit-required confined space entry, technical rescue, supplied air systems, ventilation, fall protection systems, air monitoring and large scale LOTO (Lockout/Tagout). Experience and knowledge in industrial cleaning operations, specifically high and ultra-high hydro blasting safe operations, industrial vac truck operations, permit-required confined space entry and PIV (Powered Industrial Vehicle) training. This is an onsite position based in Farmington Hills, Michigan requiring up to 75% travel. Preferred Qualifications College degree in safety or a related discipline.
