This role is based in Montgomery, AL that requires onsite presence and occasional travel. If you’re eager to grow your career and make a meaningful impact on exciting projects, we look forward to your applicationPURPOSE: The Specialist, Welding (BB/BR Roof) is responsible for supporting and improving production processes within an automotive manufacturing environment. This role serves as the technical expert for the assigned production area, supporting new model launches, tooling implementation, process optimization, and daily production activities while ensuring safety, quality, cost, and productivity targets are achieved.RESPONSIBILITIES:Serve as the technical expert for the assigned production area during new model and tooling launches. Coordinate and lead project activities including process design, supplier coordination, tooling implementation, and production readiness. Analyze and continuously improve safety, quality, productivity, cost, and process efficiency within the assigned area. Support and resolve daily production and manufacturing issues through technical problem-solving and root cause analysis. Participate in cross-functional teams and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide technical guidance and training to production and maintenance teams. Monitor new technologies and recommend process or equipment improvements where applicable. Prepare and present project updates, technical reports, and performance analyses to management. Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and operational management systems and applicable regulations. Support additional engineering, operational, and on-call responsibilities as required. QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred0–10 years of relevant job-related experience preferred3–10 years of automotive assembly or manufacturing experience desiredExperience in welding, hemming, sheet metal, or automotive production processes preferredREQUIRED SKILLS:Knowledge of automotive manufacturing and welding processesStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to support production operations and manage multiple technical projectsEffective communication and presentation skillsProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointKnowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)Robotic welding experienceHemming experienceJigs and fixture experienceTool and die training or experienceAbility to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, off-shift support, and on-call assignments when requiredExperience in welding, hemming, sheet metal, or automotive production processes preferredPREFERRED SKILLS:Automotive or sheet metal manufacturing experienceExperience with data and trend analysisWillingness to travelPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbsMust be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practicesFLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:Location: MontgomerySchedule: Day shift, 40h/w, weekend as requiredTravel: Domestic and occasional international travel may be requiredOvertime: as required Assignment Start: ASAPDISCLAIMER:This job description is a high-level overview of general expectations of this position.
