Job Overview: The position supports engineers and scientists in building laser and laser-based remote sensing systems and requires experience in supporting the design, procurement, fabrication, and testing of electronics and electro-optical subsystems. Though growing, BP is now a small organization, so the position also requires a wide variety of daily business skills and responsibilities such as organization of lab and assembly areas, shipping and receiving, and picking up local parts. Responsibilities: · Perform prototype assembly & testing of electronics and electro-optical subsystems. · Assist electronics/electrical, optical and mechanical engineers in the development, assembly, disassembly, testing, characterization, and installation of electronic, optical, mechanical and assemblies. · Design and fabricate specialized or modified electrical and electro-optic components. · Interact with responsible engineers and team to communicate results. · Assist engineers in process development, execute new processes to develop prototype products, document prototype process development. · Setup and operation of laboratory equipment such as electrical test equipment. · Other duties as assigned by management. Minimum Qualifications: · Five years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. · Associate degree in Electronics or Engineering Technology, or equivalent. · Proficient in interpreting and generating electronic/electrical schematics, generating BOMs, ordering and kitting projects. · Skilled in the use of hand tools, small electrical tools, soldering, and basic machine tools. · Skilled in assembly of electronic and mechanical assemblies, including ESD and cleanroom protocols. · Proficient with the assembly of small electronic components – form factor 0402, etc. · Experience with NASA-STD-8739 or equivalent quality/process standards a plus. · Knowledge of fundamental electronics circuits and schematics, and basic electronic components. · Experience in electro-optical systems. · Skilled in the use of equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, power supply systems, etc. · Ability and willingness to work with and be a member of a diverse team of people. · Skilled in the use of computers and application software, (e.g., Microsoft Excel and Word). · Self-starter, willing learner, eager to gain and share new knowledge, able to work with minimal supervision, and be a team player. Other Requirements: US citizenship is required Some travel may be required. Desired: · Some programming experience such as Python and/or LabView. · Some experience designing with CAD such as Solidworks.
