Our team builds and operates the foundational infrastructure, cloud platforms, and DevSecOps capabilities that power enterprise data products and analytics across Case Teams, Practice Areas, and Business Systems.You will drive the design and evolution of BCG’s cloud-native database platforms and services (with a primary focus on AWS), building scalable, secure, and highly automated data services.This is a hands-on individual contributor role with strong technical leadership, focused on standardizing platforms, improving reliability, and enabling self-service for application and data teams.What You Will DoPlatform Engineering & AutomationDesign and deliver cloud-native database platforms with a focus on scalability, resilience, and cost efficiencyBuild automated, self-service capabilities using Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform), CI/CD, and Git-based workflowsArchitecture & StandardsDefine and implement reusable platform patterns, standards, and guardrailsAct as a Solution Architect where required, translating business needs into scalable data platform designsReliability, Security & Cost OptimizationEmbed SRE principles including observability, performance, and incident responseEnsure secure-by-design practices across identity, access, and data protectionDrive cost transparency and optimization through FinOps principlesStakeholder Enablement & CollaborationPartner with architecture, application, and data teams to deliver integrated solutionsProvide technical guidance and mentorship to engineersLead design and architecture reviews aligned to enterprise standardsInnovation & Continuous ImprovementEvaluate new technologies and lead proof-of-conceptsSupport emerging use cases (e.g. analytics, AI/ML, GenAI) where relevantYOU'RE GOOD ATStrong communication skills, able to translate technical concepts into business outcomesProven ability to work across global, cross-functional teamsStrong problem-solving and analytical mindsetAbility to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced environmentWhat You'll BringCore RequirementsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field10+ years’ experience in database, platform, or infrastructure engineeringStrong experience designing and operating cloud-native platforms (AWS preferred)Hands-on expertise with modern database technologies, including document, search, or graph platforms (e.g. OpenSearch, Neptune, or similar); experience with NoSQL or distributed systems is also valuableStrong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform) and CI/CD pipelinesStrong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and performance optimizationExperience designing for reliability, observability, and operational excellence (SRE mindset)Solid understanding of cloud security and data protection best practicesNice to HaveExperience across multiple cloud providers (Azure, GCP)Exposure to analytics and data platforms (e.g. Databricks, BigQuery)Familiarity with relational databases (e.g. MSSQL, Oracle)Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF)Exposure to modern data architectures supporting AI/ML or GenAI use cases (e.g. vector-based retrieval) is a strong plusWho You'll Work WithEnterprise and Solution Architecture teamsData & Analytics platforms (e.g. Databricks, BigQuery)Application development teams and product ownersCloud, security, and infrastructure teamsManaged service providers and technology partnersAdditional info*** For US locations only ***In the US, we have a compensation transparency approach.Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, retirement contribution, and a market leading benefits package described below.The base salary range for this role in Boston is $153,000-$186,300.This is an estimated range, however, specific base salaries within the range depend on various factors such as experience and skill set. It is not common for new BCG employees to be hired at the high-end of the salary range.
