Job Summary
The Retirement Plan Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive administration services for Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit retirement plans. This role works closely with clients to support all facets of plan administration, including plan design, regulatory compliance, nondiscrimination testing, and government reporting. The Retirement Plan Specialist ensures accuracy, compliance with applicable regulations, and high-quality client service while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Reconcile plan assets and ensure accuracy between trust records and plan data.
Determine individual and plan contribution limitations in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
Perform various levels of nondiscrimination and compliance testing for qualified retirement plans.
Prepare administrative reports, participant statements, and complete required IRS and Department of Labor filings.
Communicate effectively with clients and their employees regarding plan administration matters, inquiries, and issues.
Maintain compliance with company policies, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
Apply sound judgment and initiative in resolving issues while maintaining professionalism and tact.
Collaborate with team members to promote cooperation, productivity, and confidence within the organization.
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of five 5 years of experience in pension or retirement plan administration
Experience with ASC and FT Williams software strongly preferred
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, proportions, percentages, and contribution limits
Working knowledge of basic algebra, fractions, ratios, and percentages
Ability to apply mathematical concepts including probability and statistical inference to practical situations
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently prioritize multiple tasks
Ability to communicate effectively, over the phone and through email, with colleagues, clients, and external partner
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, coworkers, management, and regulatory authorities
Detail-oriented, flexible, and able to sustain productivity in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
