QA QC Inspector

Job Description SummaryThe Quality Inspector plays a critical role in maintaining product quality and compliance within a metal fabrication environment. This position involves performing inspections, conducting tests, and documenting results to ensure in-process components, and finished products conform to engineering drawings, blueprints, and quality standards.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections of materials, components, and finished products.Read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, work orders, and specifications to determine inspection and testing procedures and required dimensions and tolerances.Perform dimensional measurements using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges and tape measures.Conduct visual inspections to identify surface defects such as cracks, pits, incomplete welds, or incorrect finishes.Document inspection results accurately by completing reports, inputting data into quality management systems (QMS) databases, and preparing discrepancy reports.Identify and quarantine non-conforming productsAssist in performing First Article Inspections (FAIs) and other inspections as required.Monitor and ensure compliance with the company's quality control policies, safety procedures, and industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).Qualifications and SkillsProven experience in a quality control or inspection role within a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of metal materials, alloys, manufacturing processes (welding, cutting, forming), and quality control techniques.Proficiency in using precision measuring tools and the ability to interpret complex technical drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective communication skills (verbal and written) for reporting findings and collaborating with cross-functional teams.Familiarity with quality control standards and data analysis techniques.Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and the ability to learn job-specific software.High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Quality Inspector)Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods and move around the production floor.Ability to lift and move products or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally.Company DescriptionWE HIRE VETERANS AND CROSS-TRAINDSM Metal Fabrication is a small metal fabrication company located in Biddeford, Maine.
