Materials Coordinator

Epitec is seeking an experienced Materials Coordinator to join our automotive client's team in Detroit, MI. As a Materials Coordinator, the candidate will play a pivotal role in coordinating plant material flow and improving production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.This is an ongoing W2 contract with potential for conversionThis is an onsite position in Dearborn, MIThere are multiple openings with different schedules:Monday - Friday: 10pm - 6am (Overtime expected)Monday - Friday: 2pm - 10pm (Overtime expected)Top responsibilities:Coordinate in‑plant material flow from receiving dock to point of use on the assembly lineMaintain accurate inventory records, shipping documentation, and material trackingSupervise and support material technicians and team leaders within assigned areasSet daily priorities and allocate resources to meet production and operational goalsIdentify and recommend improvements to production methods, material flow, and equipment performanceTroubleshoot and resolve production or material handling issues in partnership with technical and administrative teamsEnsure standard work processes are followed and updated as neededPrepare and maintain production reports, staffing records, and performance documentationInterpret and administer company policies, procedures, and operating guidelinesMake staffing decisions including hiring, training, development, performance management, and corrective actionsQualifications:5+ years of related experience in manufacturing, materials, logistics, or operationsStrong knowledge of raw materials, production processes, inventory control, and quality systemsWorking knowledge of manufacturing equipment, tools, and material handling systemsProven ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast‑paced plant environmentExperience supervising shop floor employees or professional individual contributorsStrong problem‑solving skills with high attention to detailEffective verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacyAbility to work independently, manage time, and make day‑to‑day operational decisions within established policiesComfortable coordinating cross‑functional resources to meet safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency objectives
