Job Description Responsible for assisting the ophthalmologist by gathering data pertaining to the patient’s visual status by maintaining an environment conducive to the delivery of efficient quality eye care. The ophthalmic technician can effectively perform appropriate clinical testing based on clinical experience which allows an understanding of eye care. Monday-Friday 9:00am-6:00pm Job Type: Full-time Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour Work Location: 2 locations ( Half a day in A clinic in Wilsonville and the other half at Newberg) Work Remotely: No ESSENTIAL DUTIES: History taking Visual acuity measurement Refractometry (measurements for the glasses prescription) Tonometry (measure eye pressure) Measure pupil size and reactivity Test and measure eye muscle function Visual field testing Corneal thickness measurement Corneal curvature measurement Corneal topography Retinal nerve fiber layer measurement Retinal thickness and topography Fluorescein angiography A and B-scan ultrasonography Assist with contact lens fitting, and patient instruction Prepare for and assist with in-office procedures Surgical assisting Education & Experience: REQUIRED: Graduation from an accredited high school REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree in related field 2 to 5 years’ experience required Ophthalmic and/or optometric technician experience preferred Other Performance Requirements: Accurate clinical judgement: the ability to recognize inconsistencies in test results Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as required Must be flexible with regards to shift (as hours may vary and are dictated by clinic needs) Ability to pay attention to detail Ability to maintain confidentiality Affable and outgoing personality with professional demeanor A true desire to learn: the ability to seek instruction in areas where he/she is not knowledgeable The ability to communicate effectively to colleagues and patients Ability to make independent, accurate decisions regarding the best use of his/her time The ability to seek advice from others when accuracy is uncertain, and findings are inconsistent An attitude that reflects a desire to go beyond the minimum required duties Benefits: Medical Dental 401k w/ employer contributions Group Life (100% company paid) Employee Discounts PTO Job Type: Full-time Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Employee discount Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Medical specialties: Ophthalmology Schedule: 8 hour shift Education: Associate (Preferred) Experience: Ophthalmology: 2 years (Required) 9:00AM-6:00PM Monday- Friday
