Software Engineering ManagerWhy You'll Love This RoleBuild and lead a growing software engineering team from the ground up in JoplinArchitect embedded, cloud, and application software that powers advanced battery systemsDrive engineering standards, best practices, and scalable development processesStay hands-on technically while shaping team growth and long-term strategyWork cross-functionally with systems, product engineering, QA, manufacturing, and customersMake a real impact in safety-critical, high-reliability product environmentsAbout the RoleWe are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead and grow a Joplin-based software development team focused on building scalable, reusable software infrastructure across embedded systems, user applications, web platforms, and cloud data processing.This role owns the full software development lifecycle-from architecture and design through testing, deployment, and continuous improvement-while driving standardization of development processes and best practices aligned with product development standards.You'll begin as a hands-on technical leader and transition into a full people management role as the team expands, working closely with Systems Engineering, Product Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, IT, and customers.Key ResponsibilitiesArchitect scalable embedded software platforms and reusable application infrastructureDevelop embedded systems software for sensor monitoring and actuator control in safety-critical environmentsDesign standardized communication interfaces across hardware and system componentsImplement modular algorithms for battery State of Charge and State of HealthLead development of battery management, testing, and maintenance applicationsCollaborate across engineering teams to automate data analysis and system performance reportingDefine and document software requirements and design specificationsEnsure high-quality code through testing, analysis, and coding standards complianceParticipate in safety and cybersecurity risk assessmentsDrive continuous improvement and standardization of software development processesMentor, coach, and develop software engineers through technical reviews and leadership supportStay current on modern development tools, technologies, and best practicesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering (required)5+ years of experience in software development environments with leadership or management experienceStrong background in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)Experience in safety-regulated industries (e.g., DO-178C or similar standards) preferredU.S. Person status requiredProven ability to lead teams while remaining technically engaged NO SPONSORSHIPS on this role:
