Position Summary:
The UniVerse Database Administrator is responsible for the hands-on administration, tuning, and support of UniVerse and other in-production databases. This is a full-time, direct hire (W2) position. The role involves developing and implementing applications that interface with core credit systems, managing cross-platform file transfers, security, and ensuring smooth communication between Snap-on Credit's internal systems and external vendors. Occasional travel may be required to support operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor, support, and enhance productivity for in-house encrypted UniVerse Databases running on Linux platforms across multiple geographies.
Perform UniVerse database upgrades and conversions as necessary.
Manage database history files to support application development and testing.
Participate in system conversion activities using Veeam backup/restore and file transfer platforms.
Install, configure, and manage multiple instances of IBM MQ and GoAnywhere MFT, utilizing SFTP, API calls, and other standard transfer protocols.
Administer interface products on multiple operating system platforms.
Integrate and update UniVerse systems in Development and Test environments.
Troubleshoot issues related to business applications, hardware, and software solutions.
Assist UNIX Administrator with performance analysis, security, monitoring, and upgrades of Linux environments.
Contribute to disaster recovery/business continuity planning and testing with replicated production data.
Assist with server and PURE storage provisioning and administration.
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or 4+ years of experience as a Database Administrator.
2+ years of experience with UniVerse Database Systems preferred.
Broad system administration background with strong UNIX and Linux skills; familiarity with Windows environments.
Proficiency in TCP-IP, DNS, and networking, including knowledge of SSH certificates, encryption protocols (GPG, PGP, FIPS 140-2, AES), and file transfer protocols (SFTP, SCP, FTPS, AS2, HTTPS, RSYNC).
Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with client/server technology, preferably in a PICK UniVerse/UniData environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
