We are looking for an organized and hands-on Program Coordinator (Lead DSP) for our Adult Day Program in Fairfield, CA. This role is a working leadership position that combines program coordination with direct support. You will be actively engaged on the floor, supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, while also assisting with scheduling, documentation, staff coaching, and daily program operations.
This is not a purely administrative role. The Program Coordinator plays a key part in ensuring high-quality care, modeling best practices, and stepping in to provide direct support. Job Description
The Program Coordinator (PC) is the lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) for our Adult Day Program. This is a hands-on, working leadership role. As a PC, you will be actively supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) on the floor each day, while also helping guide staff and support overall program operations.
You will be responsible for providing direct care, hands-on instruction, and positive behavioral support to ensure the health, safety, and success of the individuals we serve. In addition to direct support, you will assist with documentation, coordination of daily programming, and maintaining compliance standards.
While this is not a formal supervisory role, the PC takes the lead in daily operations, helping ensure the program runs smoothly and staff are supported and aligned. This position reports directly to the Program Director.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Provide direct support to individuals, including personal care, skill-building, and active participation in daily programming
Model and implement behavior supports, including de-escalation techniques during challenging situations
Support individuals in achieving personal goals and increasing independence
Assist the Program Director in maintaining consistent, high-quality programming
Support daily documentation by reviewing for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
Assist with ISP updates, data tracking, and progress notes as directed
Support goal tracking and help ensure documentation aligns with individual outcomes
Assist with planning and coordinating daily activities and program schedules
Coach and support DSP staff through modeling, guidance, and real-time feedback
Reinforce proper documentation practices and program expectations with staff
Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams
Assist with basic program operations, including supplies, scheduling support, and facility needs
This is a driving position, must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Qualifications
What makes you a great fit
Bachelors degree in Human Services, Special Education, or related field is preferred. Or, equivalent training/experience in disability services will be considered
At least 1 year of experience in disability services or community-based programs, preferably in a day program or vocational setting
Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, such as intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, autism
Excellent communication and problem solving skills
Adaptable and creative
Organized with excellent time management capabilities
Confident and strong communicator
Positive role model; able to lead, coach, and support
Tech savvy
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Highschool Diploma or GED
Must be 21 years or older
Ability to lift and transfer 50 lbs.
