Known for merging cutting-edge technology with visually engaging designs, Smartplay delivers both mechanical and digital draw solutions tailored for studio environments.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site role for a Java Software Developer located in Beverly, NJ (near Philadelphia). The position will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing software solutions for lottery game drawing systems. Daily tasks will include writing, testing, and debugging digital products using Java, PHP, C/C++, and HTML; and designing and implementing software solutions. You will also ensure the performance and reliability of client/server applications, web applications, and embedded systems. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineers, marketing professionals, and customers will be fundamental to enhancing Smartplay’s world-class products.NOTE: Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor students/graduates on F-1 or STEM OPT, at this time. Priority will be given to local applicants. QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Comp. Sci, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (equivalent work experience will be considered)3+ years professional software development experience using Java, or demonstrable Java project experienceStrong skills in software development and programming, with a focus on producing efficient and high-quality code.A firm understanding of principles of scalable, maintainable software, such as DRY and SRPAbility to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize software applicationsStrong understanding of Linux — BIG plusExperience with C/C++ and PHP development — strong plusStrong understanding of SQL, relational databases, and data structures — plusExperience with developing and deploying to embedded systems — plusUnderstanding of quality documentation and good software security practices — strong plusExcellent problem-solving and communication skills - particularly English writing skills - are importantStrong collaborative skills for working across all departments in a close-knit organization.Ability to work well under pressure while meeting deadlines.Experience in gaming, lottery, or manufacturing industries is a plusExperience or familiarity with ISO standards such as 9001 and 27001 are desirable Salary Range: $95,000 – $115,000 / year represents the range for this position.
