School Nurse (SY 24-25)

Responsibilities: Conduct physical assessments and provide treatment to students within the scope of nursing practice. Evaluate situations involving student safety, abuse (physical, sexual, drug), and other health-related concerns to identify problems, make appropriate referrals, and comply with legal requirements. Implement and manage health programs (e.g., health screenings, vision and hearing tests, immunizations) to ensure legal compliance. Develop and maintain health and emergency care plans to address student health needs. Assist in planning emergency care for illnesses or injuries occurring to students or staff on school premises. Contribute to student support programs such as SST, SARB, Section 504 Plans, and IEP Teams, as appropriate. Perform mandated health assessments for all students being evaluated for Special Education. Attend and participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings when there is a health concern. Aid in the control and prevention of communicable diseases by implementing policies on exclusion and readmission, coordinating with public health agencies, and providing information to staff, students, and parents. Oversee contracted personnel and district licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) who perform Specialized Health Care Procedures for students requiring such services. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a related field. Valid California Registered Nursing License. California School Nurse Services Credential from the Department of Education (or preliminary) or California School Audiometrist Certificate. Current certifications in BLS, CPR, and AED. Valid California driver's license.
