Electrical Engineer
Electrical Engineer:Bowhead is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support an upcoming effort at NAWCAD in Patuxent River, MD. The Electrical Engineer provides electrical engineering design and production support from project inception through construction, ensuring technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and high-quality deliverables in support of federal infrastructure projects.Perform electrical engineering design and production support for new construction and renovation projectsDevelop complete construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and supporting calculationsApply knowledge of both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build project delivery methodsProvide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designersReview electrical engineering work products for code compliance, constructability, and quality assuranceCoordinate across disciplines to ensure integration of electrical systems with overall project designEstimate design effort and support negotiations with Architectural-Engineering (A/E) firms and General ContractorsReview contractor submittals and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) during constructionConduct field observations to verify existing conditions and support renovation and rehabilitation design effortsEnsure professional quality, technical accuracy, and coordination of all engineering deliverables under the contractPrepare and deliver briefings and technical documentation to senior leadershipOther duties as assignedBachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or universityMinimum of five years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, with demonstrated experience in Design and Contract Document preparation for new and existing buildings similar to the building types prevalent in the NAVFAC Washington Area of Responsibility.Extensive knowledge of ICC codes, NFPA 70 (NEC), NESC, and DoD Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC).Demonstrated experience with interdisciplinary coordination required for Contract Document preparation.Experience conducting field observation to verify/obtain the existing conditions of electrical site work and facility systems and incorporating these conditions into the design for a renovation/rehabilitation project.Demonstrated working knowledge of current AutoCAD and other design and general office software, such as Microsoft Office products.Demonstrated knowledge of specifications development and coordination, using Government Based specification software.Experience in Construction Management/Scheduling and Cost EstimatingAbility to prepare and provide high-level briefs to senior leadership.Excellent Oral and written communication skillsPhysical Demands:Must be able to lift up to 25 poundsMust be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of timeMust be able to twist, bend and squat periodicallySECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for this contract.
