POSITION: Early Elementary Teacher (K-2)START DATE: July 30, 2026SCHOOL BACKGROUND:Seven Oaks Classical School is a growing public charter school that opened in the fall of 2016 and now serves over 570 students in grades K-12. Seven Oaks is an award-winning school affiliated with Hillsdale College's Barney Charter School Initiative. Seven Oaks offers a strong academic curriculum in a small school setting. We seek teachers who know and love the disciplines they teach, who understand and enjoy children, who are capable communicators, and who embrace the mission of the schoolJOB DESCRIPTION: Seven Oaks Classical School anticipates hiring one or more Early Elementary Teachers in the K-2 range for the 2026-2027 school year.QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of a bachelor's degree. Graduate education in the field(s) of instruction is a plus.Experience in classical education is a plus, though not required.Some form of valid teaching license or certificate, or at least a willingness to begin pursuing one of the various pathways to certification offered by the state. (NB: The school is happy to help candidates identify a pathway to licensure or certification, to be obtained within the first three years of teaching.)A willingness to work hard and maintain a positive, professional attitude and demeanor.A commitment to teamwork, service, leadership, and growth.Excellent spoken and written communication skills.A working understanding of childhood development, together with a deep well of patience, good humor, and professionalism.Basic skill with technology (e.g., use of a laptop, document camera, and projector; use of MS Word or equivalent).RESPONSIBILITIES:Managing a classroom in such a way as to create an atmosphere characterized by order and respect, wonder and joy.Cultivating good habits among the students through explicit instruction and personal example.Teaching the curriculum with skill and fidelity.Planning carefully so as to make full and efficient use of class time.Identifying or creating potential resources to improve instruction.Contributing to the life of the school through participation in school events, clubs, student life functions, and the like.Assisting colleagues through peer observations, mentorship, collaborative planning, class coverage, etc.Assisting with teacher duties outside the classroom (e.g., helping with carline or supervising the occasional lunch period).Cooperating with the Student Services department in the identification and support of students with special needs.Communicating regularly and professionally with parents about student conduct and academic progress.Attending faculty meetings and other professional development opportunities.Offering tutoring at least twice per week outside of regular school hours.Complying with all relevant school p9olicies and state and federal laws and regulations.Preparing plans for substitute teachers.For more details about the application process see www.sevenoaksclassical.org/employment.
