North Alabama Medical Center is a 263 bed facility offering the community's only open heart surgery site, a complete line of women's and children's services and a complete line of medical and imaging services. We are a Certified Chest Pain center and recognized as a Primary Stroke Center of Excellence by the American Heart/American Stroke Association. North Alabama Medical Center's 24-hour emergency department serves as the primary referral center for major trauma cases in Northwest Alabama. An Ultrasound Technician who excels in this role: Receives patients, explains the method of procedure, and makes sure the patient is comfortable. Provides patient services to all ages using imaging modalities. Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices. Maintains equipment and supplies and organizes work area. Keeps accurate records, helps with scheduling of the ultrasound, and keeps patient flow smooth. Observes Radiation Safety Guidelines. Education: Graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or School of Radiology required. Experience: One year of diagnostic medical sonography experience preferred. License: /Certifications: Graduate of an accredited DMS program or ARRT/DMS certification; BLS required within 30 days of hire.
