Brief DescriptionSchool-Based Clinical TraineeLocation: School-Based Services Program at Goodhue County Education DistrictThis is a contracted position that follows the school calendar year with summers off.Join Our TeamFernbrook Family Center is seeking compassionate, motivated, and growth-oriented Clinical Trainees to provide school-based mental health services to children and adolescents. This role offers an excellent opportunity for graduate students and pre-licensed professionals pursuing licensure as an LICSW, LPCC, LMFT, or LP to gain hands-on clinical experience while receiving high-quality supervision and support.Clinical Trainees provide diagnostic assessments, psychotherapy, and skills services to children experiencing mental health concerns, helping improve daily functioning and overall well-being. Services are delivered under the supervision of a qualified mental health professional in accordance with licensure requirements.What You'll DoClinical ServicesProvide psychotherapy and/or skills services to children within the school-based program.Conduct diagnostic assessments to determine eligibility for services.Collaborate and consult with schools, families, and community providers to support client needs.Maintain professional and ethical standards in all client interactions.Documentation & ComplianceComplete clinical documentation in accordance with agency, regulatory, and quality standards.Comply with all agency policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.Meet productivity expectations related to client contact and service delivery.Professional Development & SupervisionActively seek supervisory consultation and clinical guidance as needed.Attend and actively participate in individual and/or group clinical supervision in accordance with your supervision plan.Complete required trainings and continuing education activities.Participate in staff meetings and agency initiatives.Complete 30 hours of mental health-related continuing education every two years, plus any additional licensing board requirements.Additional ResponsibilitiesRepresent and communicate Fernbrook Family Center's mission and values internally and externally.Travel between client locations, schools, homes, community settings, and Fernbrook offices as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications Master's degree in a behavioral health field or current enrollment in a graduate program with an approved field placement.Working toward licensure as one of the following:Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)Licensed Psychologist (LP)Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and acceptable driving record.Ability to pass required criminal background checks.Preferred QualificationsExperience working with children, families, and/or adults in behavioral health settings.Bilingual or multilingual skills.Skills & AbilitiesStrong ethical decision-making and professional boundaries.Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational and time-management abilities.Willingness to seek feedback, supervision, and professional growth opportunities.Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn electronic health record systems.Commitment to Fernbrook's mission, values, and client-centered approach.Work Schedule & ExpectationsTypical service hours occur between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.Flexible scheduling based on school and client needs.Full-time salaried employees generally work 40–43 hours per week.Hourly employees may work up to 40 hours per week, with overtime requiring prior supervisor approval.Attendance at required meetings, supervision, training, documentation time, and travel are expected components of the role.Physical RequirementsAbility to sit, listen, observe, and work on a computer for extended periods.Physical stamina to work consistently with children and families with diverse needs.Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.Why Fernbrook?Fernbrook Family Center values an inclusive, supportive workplace and recognizes the importance of lived experience in serving our communities.
