Senior Systems Programmer - z/OS
Senior Systems ProgrammerSYSTEMTEC is seeking a Senior Systems Programmer for a hybrid opportunity in Columbia, SC. Candidate will support and maintain enterprise messaging infrastructure within a complex IBM z/OS environment, ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of mission-critical MQ services. Candidate will work closely with infrastructure and operations teams to administer MQ Queue Managers, troubleshoot production issues, and support ongoing platform enhancements.
Required Qualifications of the Senior Systems Programmer:

Minimum of 6 years of IT experience, including extensive mainframe systems programming experience
Strong hands-on experience administering IBM MQ in a z/OS environment
Experience creating, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting MQ Queue Managers and Queues
Proficiency with IBM Mainframe/zOS technologies and JCL
Experience supporting enterprise messaging infrastructure in production environments
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
Preferred Skills/Experience of the Senior Systems Programmer:
Experience with CICS
Knowledge of IBM WebSphere MQ
Exposure to COBOL environments
Experience working with Unix or zLinux platforms
Prior experience supporting highly available enterprise infrastructure environments
Responsibilities of the Senior Systems Programmer:
Administer and support IBM MQ services within enterprise mainframe environments
Create, configure, and maintain MQ Queue Managers and Queues
Monitor queue performance, system health, and messaging activity
Troubleshoot and resolve MQ-related incidents and production issues
Support MQ software installations, upgrades, and maintenance activities
Participate in operational support, infrastructure projects, and after-hours on-call rotations as needed
Work Location: Hybrid work arrangement preferred with onsite support Tuesday through Thursday and additional onsite presence as needed in Columbia, SC.
