Google cloud Operations Engineer

GOOGLE CLOUD OPERATIONS ENGINEER TechTrend is seeking a talented, hands-on Google Cloud Operations Engineer to join our team. You will focus on the day-to-day administration, monitoring, security, and performance of our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments. Operating as a hands-on individual contributor, you will take ownership of keeping critical government systems running smoothly, resolving incidents, and optimizing existing infrastructure.Key Responsibilities:• Cloud Administration & Operations: Manage the day-to-day operations of enterprise GCP environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and operational stability for a major U.S. Government customer.• Monitoring & Incident Response: Implement and manage robust monitoring, logging, and alerting systems (e.g., GCP Cloud Operations/Stackdriver, ELK Stack, Splunk). Act as the primary technical responder for infrastructure incidents, troubleshooting and resolving system outages or performance bottlenecks.• Infrastructure Maintenance (IaC): Maintain and update existing cloud infrastructure using Terraform. Safely apply configuration changes, manage Terraform state, and ensure infrastructure drift is identified and corrected.• CI/CD & Deployment Support: Maintain and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth, automated, and secure deployments of containerized applications (e.g., Docker, Cloud Run, Artifact Registry) into production.• Security & Identity Management: Manage Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles, service accounts, and network security groups. Ensure continuous compliance with strict industry and government standards (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST) through vulnerability patching and security remediation.• Backup, Recovery & Cost Optimization: Execute routine backups, test disaster recovery procedures, and actively monitor cloud billing to identify and eliminate underutilized resources.Required Qualifications:• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field (Preferred).• Certifications: Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer Certification strongly preferred.• Cloud Operations Experience: 2 YOE administering, monitoring, and troubleshooting enterprise Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Working knowledge of Terraform to read, update, and deploy infrastructure changes safely within a production environment.• Modern Tech Stack: Experience operating and troubleshooting containerized workloads, microservices, and serverless solutions (e.g., Cloud Run).• Cybersecurity & Monitoring: Familiarity with cloud security and monitoring tools (e.g., ELK Stack, Ansible, Nessus, ClamAV, Splunk, Git, and native GCP monitoring).• Agile Delivery: Experience working in an Agile/DevSecOps environment (Scaled Agile Framework / SAFe knowledge is a plus), utilizing ticketing systems (e.g., Jira) for incident and task management.Work Location: Remote (able to work out of the Reston office 1-2 times a month)Travel Requirements: No travelJob Type: Full-timeBenefits:• Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance• Life, Short, and Long-term Disability Insurance• PTO & All federal holidays off• 401(k) Plan (matching component included)• Free Gym Access at HeadquartersAbout TechTrendFounded in 2003, TechTrend is an award-winning technology consulting firm delivering cloud, AI, cybersecurity, digital transformation, and enterprise IT solutions to federal and commercial customers.
