As a Professional Coder at Pine Rest, you’ll be part of tight-knit team that believes in the healing power of your expertise and compassion. The Professional Coder under the direct supervision of the HIM Manager and Coding Lead, the Professional Coder is responsible for the timely and accurate coding review of all HRS professional records for the purpose of reimbursement and compliance with regulatory agencies according to diagnoses and procedures guidelines. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Must be able to work and communicate effectively with providers and employees of the Contact Center/Utilization Management, Patient Accounts, Information Systems, and others, as needed. Appropriately interact with the organizationadministrators, directors, and staff leads. Will be required to work in a highly confidential area without disclosure of confidential information. Maintains professional code selection of HRS and ORS records Accurately codes records. Provides coding audit feedback to providers, as needed. Ensures coding accuracy rate of 90% or better. Ensures copy/paste review rates of 90% or better for prescribers. Gives accurate attention to details. As required, actively participates in performance improvement projects. Demonstrates a consistent level of performance; strives to maintain a steady level of productivity. Works worksheets, as assigned. Adapts to changes in the workload. Demonstrates the ability to read, write and comprehend the contents of a medical record sufficiently to code. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of ICD 10-CM medical coding, CPT, and APC’s. Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of medical terminology and asks questions to clarify misunderstandings. Demonstrates a complete understanding of all coding procedures regarding the sequencing of diagnoses and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of human anatomy and physiology to interpret general medical and mental/behavioral health classifications for coding. Complies in all material respects with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all federal, State and local laws and regulations applicable to position. What Does This Role Require?
