Custodial Floor Technician, Spring High School

Cusdial Floor Technician The Custodial Floor Technician cleans and maintains care of all types of flooring surfaces. The Custodial Floor Technician has the additional responsibilities of cleaning offices, halls, classrooms and similar areas in the school building and performs related work as required by immediate supervisor. Result will be a safe, clean and efficient building environment. Perform project work as assigned.All employees of SISD are expected to act with integrity, support organizational goals, communicate in a clear and respectful manner, championing the needs of our students and drive continuous improvement.Qualifications:High School graduate or GED from an accredited institutionThree (3) years of custodial experienceThree (3) years job-related experience (preferred)Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety proceduresKnowledge of floor care programs or ability to learn how to properly maintain floors through national recognized companyAbility to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipmentAbility to properly handle cleaning suppliesMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Clean, strip, wax, buff and burnish hard floor surfacesShampoo, extract, and spot clean carpetsOperate and maintain various types of floor care equipment such as auto scrubbers, buffers, extractors and vacuumsMaintain cleanliness of assigned areas including hallways, classrooms, offices, restrooms and other public areasDust, vents, ledges, shelves and horizontal surfacesDisinfect restroom sinks, urinals, fixtures, partitions, showers and floorsPolish all chromeDisinfect public phones and water fountainsRemove facility trash and place in dumpster. Re-line cansEmpty pencil sharpenersWash and dry mops/rags as neededPerform set-ups for meetings and special eventsPolice grounds and parking lot dailyReplenish dispensers as neededOther general custodial duties as assigned by the supervisor including, but not limited to moving furniture and equipmentRelated Duties:Move furniture and perform project cleaningMix chemicalsSweep sidewalks, patios and entrancesResponding to emergencies or crisis situation in the District as directed by supervisor.Audio/Visual Demands:Average hearingCorrected 20/20 visionGood depth perceptionAbility to distinguish between colorsType of Equipment Used:Vacuum cleaner, broom, dust mop, wet mop, bucket, wringer, spray bottles, high duster, cart, small hand tools, roto, extractor, propane stripper and propane burnisherPersonal Protective Equipment:Rubber gloves, goggles and apron are required when mixing chemicals. Back support belts should be used when lifting, if available.Required Training:1st day orientation Hazardous Communications/M.S.D.S./Fire Safety/Proper Lifting Techniques/Eye SafetyWorking Conditions:The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following: frequent walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting (50lb or more) and carrying. Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, and ladders. Work alone as well as with other team members. Environmental Conditions: Required to use chemicals daily, working in extreme weather conditions (with and without air conditioning depending on facility requirements). Overtime is required as necessary.
