Residential Guest Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY
Vita Nova's the Sleep Spot provides a temporary solution for homeless and disconnected youth ages 18-25 through access to emergency beds - one night at a time - to help increase safety by decreasing the number of nights eligible youth spend on the streets while awaiting placement for shelter, transitional, or permanent housing. The purpose of the Guest Coordinator is to help maintain a safe and orderly environment.
This role requires living at the Sleep Spot location in West Palm Beach with part-time responsibilities of approximately 10-20 hours/week. Compensation will be paid at an hourly rate for actual hours worked and includes rent and utilities (Wi-Fi, electric, trash, sewer, and water). This is a temporary role, subject to the continuity of the Sleep Spot program, which is currently designed to run for approximately one year through August 15, 2025.
The Guest Coordinator will have full access to the private one-bedroom and one-bathroom suite on the upper level of the house and may utilize all available appliances, including the washer and dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, stove/oven. The kitchen and all other indoor common areas are shared, though youth Guests are not permitted to cook in the kitchen.
The Guest Coordinator must be available via phone or in-person for overnight Guests at the Sleep Spot. Admissions are currently scheduled during weekdays (Monday - Thursday) only with no check-ins on weekends or holidays.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as Host and main point of contact for overnight Guests at the Sleep Spot
Maintain confidentiality of the Sleep Spot and information pertaining to all Guests
Review all signed Guest Agreements and photo IDs to ensure proper approval for individuals at the Sleep Spot each night
Explain and remind Guests of all Sleep Spot rules and expectations, as needed, including requirement of timely check-out each morning
Ensure safety and compliance with all local laws, including Sleep Spot rules & regulations
Exit Guests as needed in response to any safety concerns or rule violations
Offer exited Guests the opportunity to submit a Grievance Form to report any concerns
Contact emergency personnel (law enforcement/paramedics/fire) and designated Vita Nova team members for immediate assistance, as needed
Notify the designated Vita Nova team member(s) immediately of any safety, property, or community concerns
Complete Guest Compliance forms upon check-out each day to provide critical feedback for eligibility of future visit(s)
Maintain orderly Guest files in a secured office location within the Sleep Spot
Assist with ongoing security and upkeep of the premises daily:
Conduct walk-throughs of the premises (indoor and outdoor) to assess for safety
Document any property damage or needed repairs
Start house laundry of towels and bedding (leave in dryer for next round of Guests)
Maintain cleanliness of all bedrooms, bathrooms, and shared common areas
Place kitchen trash in outdoor bins; place and remove curbside bins according to City of WPB schedule for trash removal
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Lived experience with housing instability is preferred
Demonstrated progress toward education and employment goals to attain self-sufficiency
Ability to engage with Guests using a trauma-informed approach
Experience with or ability to learn basic functions of
Typing, filing, and general administrative tasks
Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Effective communication and organizational skills
Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background check and drug screen
