Growing together.The Laboratory Technician collects and processes clinical blood, non-blood specimens, and drug screens; dispenses collection instructions to patients; performs waived and moderate complexity laboratory tests; maintains laboratory documentation, supplies, equipment, and safety; utilizes computer systems for data storage and retrieval. Has working knowledge of ICD10 coding and Medicare compliance regulations.Primary ResponsibilitiesParticipates and maintains a culture within The Corvallis Clinic consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards Caregiver document. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained withinKnowledge of federal regulations as related to drug and alcohol testing collection proceduresOrders and distributes kits and maintains chain of custody needed for specimen collectionPerforms venipuncture and specimen processingPerforms "point of collection" tests as directed by DHHS as requested by CLIACollects and processes clinical blood, non-blood specimens and drug screens. Dispenses collection instructions to patientsPerforms moderate complexity laboratory testingFollows procedures, policies, and Medicare compliance regulationsAbility to work flexible hours and assist in off-site collectionsMaintains work area including records, supplies equipment, equipment QA logs and safetyUtilizes computer systems for data storage and retrievalParticipates in competency and proficiency testing, and in-house continuing educationCollects specimens in off-site locationsAdministers vaccinationsReviews new employee medical records for appropriate vaccinationsPerforms Breath Alcohol TestingAbility to perform EKG's and PFT's as neededAbility to travel to multiple clinic locationsCarries the on-call Pager. When on-call, response time to facility to perform drug screens and breath alcohol tests is required to be within one (1) hour of the callYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required QualificationsCertification as a Phlebotomist or equivalent (ASCP, NPA or ASCLS)2+ years of successful phlebotomy experienceCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hireDrug & Alcohol Testing certification within one year of employmentWorking knowledge of ICD10 coding, Medicare Compliance regulationsAbility to work compatibly with physicians, patients, and other staffPreferred Qualifications1+ years of clinical laboratory testing experienceWork EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The hourly pay for this role will range from $23.89 to $42.69 per hour based on full-time employment.
