Underground Utility Construction Foreman
The Telecom Underground Construction Foreman will perform general labor duties in the field of telecom underground construction. Based out of the office in Fairfield ME, the Foreman will be someone who can operate all machinery and has experience with telecommunication buried plant.What You Will DoFamiliar with, and understand the use of underground utility construction tools; use of jackhammers/chipping guns, compactors, shovels, and other hand toolsDrive to and from job sites throughout the Maine region as well as perform general construction labor at the job site including loading, digging, and placing underground cabling that would vary in size, shape, and weight.Conscientious regarding the safety of him/herself at times as well as the safety of every other crew member or individual on the job siteAbility to make independent judgment and perform repetitive tasksRegular contact with co-workers and customers; work as part of a team environmentTravel throughout the region with the Underground Crew, and overseeing an apprentice in the roleOther duties as assigned What You Will NeedPrevious underground utility or communications construction experience requiredActive Drivers License Required; Class A CDL desired but not requiredHydraulics IC/2B Hoisting license a plusShow up for work daily and on time and ability to follow directionsHandle physical demands of construction dutiesMust possess and continue to possess a valid driver's license and pass random driver's license screeningsAbility to make independent judgment and perform repetitive tasksRegular contact with co-workers and customersWithin 90 days of start date, take and pass OSHA-10 Certification; company supplied trainingMust be able to take and pass, and continue to pass a DOT PhysicalDue to the nature of the job, travel is a requirement; hotels are paid for and employee will be supplied with per diemOvertime is available every weekKnowledge of materials handling equipment and procedures.Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and proceduresAbility to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance.Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels.Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.Work EnvironmentRepeated and frequent ability to lift, from floor to above head 40 lbs continuouslyAbility to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity.
