Construction Attorney

Mid-sized education law firm with statewide practice representing school and community college districts seeks an attorney to join its Business, Property and Construction Law Practice Group.Candidates will be considered for the following DWK offices (Hybrid): San Francisco, Long Beach, San Diego, Sacramento, East Bay, FresnoThe ideal candidate has strong analytical skills and a willingness to learn and work with a wide variety of construction-related processes, project delivery methods, and agreements. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys problem-solving, collaborating with colleagues and clients, and is eager to expand their knowledge base and develop expertise across multiple facets of construction law and contracting.Responsibilities Of This Position IncludeReview, draft, and negotiate a broad range of public works and construction-related agreements, including professional services agreementsProvide legal guidance regarding public procurement processesAssist clients with construction-related disputes and claimsResearch and analyze legal issues affecting construction and public contracting mattersCollaborate closely with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and clientsLearn and become proficient in various construction delivery methodsThe Successful Candidate Will Possess The Following QualificationsContract negotiation experience, including drafting and reviewing a variety of types of contractsExperience with and/or a willingness to learn public procurement processesExcellent analytical, writing, research, and communication skillsFlexibility, initiative, and willingness to learn the nuances of a broad range of construction processes and agreements, and related matters arising in representing public entitiesAbility to prioritize and perform multiple tasks, with strong attention to detail and accuracyApproaches new challenges and navigates obstacles with a solution-oriented mindsetAnticipates needs and takes appropriate action to move work forwardAbility to apply legal research skills and critical thinking to assigned workDemonstrated success working as a team player in a fast-paced environment, as well as the ability to work independentlyLitigation experience or willingness to work on litigation matters is a plusAdmission to the California State BarQualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with both California’s Fair Chance Act (FCA) and local Fair Chance Ordinances (FCOs).The annual salary range the Firm reasonably expects to pay candidates for this position is $120,000 to $175,000. The final annual salary offered will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
