Program Driver
*Position Summary*
The Program Driver provides safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation for older adults traveling to medical appointments and other approved wellness-related destinations through SilverSource's Ride to Wellness program.
This position plays a vital role in helping older adults maintain their independence, access healthcare services, and remain connected to their community. The Program Driver serves as an ambassador for SilverSource by treating every passenger with dignity, respect, and professionalism. This role requires safe driving practices, dependability, exceptional customer service, and a commitment to passenger safety.
*Key ResponsibilitiesTransportation Services*
* Safely transport older adults to and from medical appointments and approved wellness-related destinations.
* Arrive on time for scheduled pick-ups and drop-offs.
* Operate SilverSource vehicles in accordance with all traffic laws, safety regulations, and organizational policies.
* Utilize scheduling and navigation applications on a smartphone.
* Communicate with passengers, caregivers, and program staff regarding transportation schedules as needed.
* Use personal smartphone applications and SilverSource-approved software to receive trip assignments, navigate routes, and communicate with passengers and staff.
*Passenger Assistance & Safety*
* Greet passengers with courtesy, kindness, and respect.
* Assist clients entering and exiting the vehicle when needed.
* Ensure passengers are properly secured with seat belts before travel.
* Safely operate wheelchair-accessible vehicles when assigned.
* Secure wheelchairs using the Q'Straint system and follow all wheelchair transportation safety procedures.
* Monitor passenger safety throughout each trip and report any concerns to program staff.
* Participate in required safety and wheelchair transportation training.
*Vehicle & Administrative Support*
* Conduct routine vehicle safety inspections before and after shifts.
* Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned vehicles.
* Report maintenance needs, accidents, incidents, or safety concerns promptly.
* Complete trip records, mileage logs, and timesheets accurately and on time.
* Follow program procedures and documentation requirements.
*Qualifications Required*
* Valid Connecticut driver's license with a clean driving record.
* Ability to pass required background and motor vehicle record checks.
* Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
* Dependable, punctual, and professional.
* Must own and maintain a reliable smartphone with data and voice service sufficient to use SilverSource scheduling, navigation, and communication applications while on duty.
* Ability to use a smartphone, navigation tools, and scheduling applications.
* Ability to assist older adults entering and exiting vehicles safely.
*Preferred*
* Experience transporting older adults, individuals with disabilities, or other vulnerable populations.
* Experience operating wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
* CPR and First Aid certification.
* Bilingual Spanish a plus.

Work Schedule
* Part-time, Monday through Thursday, Approximately 20 - 25 hours per week
* Typical shift: 10:00am to 3:00pm
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 – 25.0 per week
