This role is with a direct client of Aprio Talent Solutions. ****This is a junior level position**** Role Title: Staff Accountant Location: 100% Remote (Company is based on the East Coast so EST time zone is preferred) ***Must be US based with EST time zone preferred*** Employment Type: Full-Time / Permanent Client Industry: GovCon Compensation: ***Up to $62,000 w/ benefits / Up to $70,000 without benefits*** (Benefits would include a full package of health insurance, retirement plan, PTO, and paid holidays) Summary: Our client, a government contracting firm, is seeking a hands-on Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations and month-end close in a fully remote capacity. This role serves as a key operational resource to the VP of Finance, owning transactional accounting and GL maintenance with a strong emphasis on QuickBooks Online. It's a strong fit for an accountant who wants real ownership of the close process and exposure to government contract accounting without the layers of a large corporate environment. What You'll Own Execute month-end close activities including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts in QuickBooks Online. Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and day-to-day transactional accounting. Prepare and upload invoices into Wide Area Workflow (WAWF) for government contract billing. Ensure accounting records are accurate, well-documented, and audit-ready. Support system cleanup, process improvements, and integration efforts alongside finance leadership and external consultants. Assist with internal and external audits by providing supporting documentation and analysis. Must-Haves 2 years of accounting experience with direct involvement in month-end close. Hands-on QuickBooks Online proficiency in a live business environment. Strong working knowledge of journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and GAAP. Experience processing AP, AR, and transactional accounting independently. Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight in a remote setting. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Nice to Have Government contracting or GovCon accounting exposure. Experience with Wide Area Workflow (WAWF) or similar government billing platforms. Familiarity with FAR/DFARS cost accounting standards. Experience in union or SCA-related accounting environments. Exposure to expense management tools such as Brex or similar platforms.
