Introduction The Technologist Assistant is responsible for assisting the technologist in the patient/scanning process. This position requires detailed knowledge of all aspects of patient services, including patient appointments, registration protocols, billing practices, telephone practices, scheduling guidelines and back-up to the front desk when needed. The position requires the ability to plan, schedule, organize and respond appropriately to a wide variety of subjects and situations. Job Objectives Properly inputs all required patient information into the system including patient history in complete sentences, performing providers, and any additional information to the radiology technologist Directs patient regarding changing protocols Prepares procedure rooms and assists in procedures as needed in compliance with RIS safety protocols Properly identifies patients and demonstrates compassion while maintaining patient confidentiality, explains exam to patients to ensure patient safety and cooperation Assists the technologist with patient position as appropriate Comforts patients; anticipating patient needs, anxieties and questions Stocks exam rooms with necessary supplies, maintain equipment and reports any equipment malfunction to the supervisor or appropriate service provider Checks schedules on a daily basis Floats to various sites on a regular basis, including the PET Truck locations Front Desk duties: Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including verifying patient’s current insurance information Assists patients with registration/check-in process ensuring all necessary forms are completed Collects co-pays and processes payments Scans information into patient charts Responsible for cash box protocols Burns CDs when requested, uploads CDs from outside facilities for comparison as necessary Perks and Benefits RIS offers competitive Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability insurance Education and Experience High school graduate or equivalent required, college degree preferred Medical Assistant certification preferred Customer Service experience preferred Skills & Qualifications Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are required High levels of compassion, intelligence, and cultural sensitivity are required Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and patients and the ability to work independently Thorough knowledge of administrative practices and procedures Physical Requirements Ability to sit for prolonged periods Normal hand eye coordination and manual dexterity Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
