Senior Events Manager
SummaryWe are looking for a seasoned Sr. Events Manager to join our U.S. Distribution team, reporting to the Vice President, Head of Events. This person will be responsible executing and supporting the firm’s U.S. event program, including corporate and proprietary events, sponsored conferences, and internal events. The successful candidate will have technical knowledge to lead effective event execution using the latest technology. The Sr. Events Manager will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders, including business partners, regional marketing colleagues, channel managers, outside vendors, and third-party service providers. The successful candidate will have experience producing and managing large-scale, innovative national and high-profile events, and providing tactical guidance. The Sr. Events Manager should understand the business, VanEck’s culture, and be able to handle an evolving fast paced environment.The ideal candidate is proactive, self-motivated, and driven by a strong sense of ownership and accountability. They should demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, maintain a positive "can-do" attitude, and possess the qualities required to consistently deliver exceptional results.Responsibilities IncludeDevelop and manage the firm’s third-party conference calendarConduct in-depth analysis on major conference opportunities including assessment of potential value and negotiations with vendors to maximize the valueResearch, develop, manage, and execute firmwide events across the U.S.Negotiate contracts pertaining to event accommodations, venues, activities, and transportationCollaborate with internal stakeholders on the planning, budgeting, and design of internal and external client events in support of firmwide strategic initiatives, marketing and brand priorities, and stated objectivesStrong understanding of meeting technologies, specifically Cvent and SplashIdentify, socialize, and implement best practices (technology, content activation, execution) with regional managersResearch and propose new event ideas and opportunitiesBuild and strengthen relationships with internal teams and external business partnersDevelop relationships with vendors, including hotels, restaurants, and transportation companies, to secure best possible rates and opportunitiesOwn responsibility and accountability for event budgets and reconciliationQualificationsWillingness and ability to travel is requiredProficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe InDesignPrior experience using Cvent or Certain Event Management software, Splash Event Management software, Salesforce, Microsoft 360, ChatGPT, Claude, Jira, and ZoomPortfolio of previously managed eventsKnowledge of the asset management industry and investmentsExtremely detail-oriented, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, decision-making and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage projects across businesses, functions, and geographic locationsTeam-player attitude and a desire to work on a wide range of projectsTime management skillsStrong oral and written communication skills, and executive presenceAbility to effectively engage and communicate with all levels of VanEck management and staff, as well as clients and prospectsStrong work ethic and proven capacity to work effectively with minimum supervision, under pressure and tight deadlines, in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environmentSupervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.Education And/or ExperienceBachelor’s degree with a business-related concentration preferred.7+ years events planning experience, asset management events experience a plus.Competencies To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:Professional demeanorAttention to detail and commitment to perform with high levels of accuracyCapacity for learning new procedures/ideasMotivationEnthusiasmAdditional RequirementsMust be able to work on-site in New York, NY, with a minimum in-office presence of four days per weekMust be willing to travel approximately 30% annuallyMust be flexible to work extended hours, including occasional weekendsCompensationIf this position will be performed in whole or in part in New York City, the base salary range is $120,000 to $150,000. Individual salaries may vary based on different factors including but not limited to, skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location.
