Shop Mechanic Level A

PURPOSE Diagnose, adjust, service, repair, and overhaul all mechanical, aerial, pneumatic and miscellaneous construction equipment. POSITION SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with the manufacturer's specifications. Collect equipment fluid samples for viscosity levels and report to the Service Manager. Replace damaged or worn parts. Responsible for proper reporting of neglect or abuse of equipment to the Service Manager. Operate and inspect equipment to diagnose defects. Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices. Dismantle and reassemble equipment using cranes, hoists, and hand tools. Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges. Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints and technical drawings. Overhaul and test equipment to ensure operating efficiency. Assemble gear systems and align frames. Fit bearings to adjust, repair or overhaul mechanical and hydraulic equipment. Weld or solder broken parts and structural members using electric or gas welders and soldering tools. Adjust, maintain, and repair/replace subassemblies, such as transmissions and crawler heads, using hand tools, jacks, and cranes as necessary. Professional communication with customers and co-workers demonstrating exceptional customer service skills. Follow all safety policies and procedures established by Impact Rentals. QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of tools and methods of the welding trade, including brazing, soldering, electrical and arc welding. The operation, minor repair, and preventative maintenance of gas and diesel powered equipment. Ability to read, interpret and work from plans and technical manuals. Design, fabricate and repair a variety of metal work. Estimate costs and materials. Maintain records via work orders. Perform minor repair and maintenance on a variety of diesel-powered heavy equipment. Operate a variety of construction equipment. Work as a teammate. The ability to work in a fast paced environment where multi-taking is required. Sense of Urgency with a desire to serve is essential. The ability to promote the Vision, Mission, and Values of Impact. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must have physical stamina and strength to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
