Quality Assurance Tech II

Job PurposeAssist with implementing and supporting company standards to ensure quality specifications for packaging, raw ingredients, and finished products are met and food safety of manufactured products is upheld. Monitor and sample quality control plans and process control procedures to ensure production of finished product is to standard.Essential FunctionsPerform daily QA walk-throughs; verify GMPs are followed in the facility and set example by practicing correctGMP procedures at all timesMonitor plant operations to ensure sanitary operational procedures are followed according to GMPsPerform pre-operational inspections, monitoring for food safety and qualityInspect incoming raw materials; review COAs and COCs as requiredTest bulk ingredientsReceive and verify labelsInitiate and complete the hold process for non-conforming product, raw materials, and other materials as required; follow up and complete disposition when determinedPrint labels for rework/productionSet up prefilling verification documentsVerify batch formulas and product labels ensuring activities are complete and meet specificationsReview historical cookie data to evaluate product performance and analyze trendsCollect finished product samples and record dataMonitor and verify CCPs/preventive controls as requiredPerform equipment calibration as assignedPerform scale and thermometer verificationsPerform intermediate analytical testingPerform environmental swabbing for bacteria and pathogens; prepare, document, and send swabs to third[1]party lab as requiredPerform environmental testing: air plates, water sampling, ATP swabbingPerform environmental and finished product testing for allergensCollect and record temperature readingsConduct glass and brittle plastic auditsAssist with regulatory and independent inspections and auditsAssist with writing and editing SOPsSubmit work orders to address personal and food safety concernsIdentify and report food safety issues and assist in conducting investigations into food safety issues, foreignmaterial findings, and customer complaintsReview production records for completion and compliance with good documentation practicesExecute and maintain the document and photo retention processServe as a resource to production employees for product quality, food safety, and regulatory issuesAttend shift change meetings to ensure information and any issues are communicated across shiftsSupport food safety program, quality standards, and legality of manufactured productsPerform other job-related duties as assignedQualifications (Education, Experience, Competencies)Associate's/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience1 to 3+ years of experience working in a food manufacturing environment; intermediate knowledge of generalfood safety programs and policies including government regulationsHACCP and PCQI certified or willing to become certifiedIntermediate analytical testing knowledgeIntermediate ability to use instruments/equipment vital to completing duties (e.g., scales, thermometers, metaldetectors, calculators, gauges, calipers, rulers, ovens)Ability to read and understand plant SOPs, work instructions, GMPs, and safety instructionsBasic plant operational knowledgeBasic sanitation knowledge: cleaning steps and sequence, chemical usageBasic knowledge of non-functional machinery operationOperational knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applicationsIntermediate problem-solving abilityAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to organize, manage multiple priorities, and maintain high attention to detail in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work varied shifts as required11p - 7:30a
