The role is responsible for the mechanical design and documentation of various air data system components from development, through qualification, and into life cycle sustainment.Duties and ResponsibilitiesLead and coordinate the mechanical design, fabrication, evaluation and testing of new products.Create and maintain 3D and 2D design definitions in SolidWorks. Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) where appropriate.Conduct technical design reviews and FMEAs to identify critical design factors and risks that impact product performance and manufacturability.Design to meet DO-160 or MIL-STD-810 testing standards.Generate requirements for contracted services and oversee the quality and timeliness of the contracted services.Drive simultaneous projects through the design cycle to completion.Utilize structured problem solving to identify and eliminate the root cause of technical issues that arise.Provide obsolescence and sustaining engineering support for legacy products.Assist manufacturing engineers with fixtures/tooling and process improvement.Manage the additive printing laboratory.Qualifications8+ years of engineering experience in aerospace new product developmentBachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aeronautical/Aerospace EngineeringMust be able to work with ITAR products and related data without restriction.Skill Set RequiredProficient in modeling and simulation tools such as; MATLAB, ANSYS, Solidworks, etc.Experience with core manufacturing processes and techniques (machining, welding, brazing, assembly, and testing)Proficient with ASME Y14.5 and use of Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances (GD&T).Strong technical writing stills including procedure creation, and requirements and specifications development, both for internal designs and external contractors.Experience with the design of FAA certified products, preferred.Knowledge of SAE Aerospace Standard AS8006, AS5562, and FAA TSO C16b, preferred.Excellent writing, oral, and reporting skills: produce/present technical documentation, customer briefings.Flexible and able to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.Physical RequirementsRestrictions are limited only by individual's inability to perform essential job duties and where an unsafe condition would result for the individual or surrounding employees.Required lifting weight: 35 lbs.
