Applicants with more substantial experience should expect higher compensation.*Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities Conduct field investigations to determine the root cause of failures, accidents, and performance issues involving a wide range of electrical systems, including but not limited to:Residential and commercial building wiringTransformersGeneratorsEnergy storage systems (including lithium-ion batteries)MotorsSwitchgearInsulatorsOvercurrent ProtectionGrounding and bonding systemsIndustrial ControlsLighting systemsRenewable energy systemsComplete fire investigations, including determining the origin and cause of a fire.Perform analyses related to design, construction, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems.Evaluate standard of care for various stakeholders, such as engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, service providers, and owners.Determine causation and responsibility for system failures, operational issues, and equipment malfunctions.Collaborate with a team of multidisciplinary experts.Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and in writingProvide testimony in legal proceedings, which may include depositions and court proceedingsAccept and integrate constructive feedback into job performanceMaintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, review professional publications, establish personal networks, and participate in professional societiesResponsible for development and retention of clientsRegular and predictable presence at workOther duties as assignedPosition RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required, Master's Degree preferredAbility to learn fire investigation (prior fire investigation experience is a significant plus)Professional Engineer registration, or the ability to obtain within a yearMinimum of five years of post-academic engineering experienceAbility to accept and integrate constructive feedbackDiverse knowledge of electrical systemsStrong writing skillsExceptional interpersonal and communication skillsPublic speaking experience a plusPhysical RequirementsAbility to travel 25% of the timeAbility to lift 80 lbs.Ability to remove large and or heavy artifacts from fire scenesAbility to carry equipment (shovels, camera, evidence case, etc.) up flights of stairsAbility to maneuver in and around buildings and structures and climb laddersAbility to drive in all conditionsAbility to fly on airplanesAbility to effectively communicate with clients and colleaguesAbility to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifactsAbility to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work siteAbility to learn a new industry and obtain required certificationsSEA places a strong value and priority on diversity, equity and inclusion across the company.
