The VP, Global Payroll leads Synchrony’s global payroll delivery across the United States, Canada, India, and the Philippines. This role ensures accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery while partnering closely with in-country payroll teams and vendors to drive consistent governance, process alignment, and continuous improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesLead end-to-end payroll operations across the US, Canada, India, and the Philippines, ensuring consistent service delivery and performanceEstablish and maintain global payroll and time tracking policies and procedures aligned with local regulatory requirementsMonitor legislative and regulatory changes across regions and coordinate timely implementation with vendors and internal partnersOwn payroll governance and accuracy, including control design, review/validation practices, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives across global processes and vendorsServe as the global escalation owner for complex payroll risks and incidents, ensuring timely resolution and stakeholder alignmentOversee payroll-related accounting coordination to ensure alignment between payroll outputs and financial reporting requirementsManage payroll vendor performance and relationships, ensuring accountability, service quality, and alignment with operational standardsPartner with HR, HRIS, Finance, Legal, and vendors to ensure end-to-end process integrityPerform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.Required Qualifications10+ years of progressive payroll leadership experience, including multi-country payroll oversight (US plus at least one of India/Philippines strongly preferred)Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance or in lieu of degree, 6 years equivalent Payroll experience\certificationExtensive knowledge of US payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirementsExpertise in payroll controls, audit readiness, and reconciliationsDemonstrated experience validating payroll tax filings and statutory compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictionsProven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and manage complex, high-risk operational processesStrong understanding of payroll systems, integrations, and data governance (HRIS-to-payroll-to-GL)Experience leading payroll transformation, standardization, and automation initiatives at scaleFamiliarity with SOX controls and regulated/financial services environmentsAbility and flexibility to travel for business as requiredDesired CharacteristicsExperience with Workday payroll moduleHigh ownership and attention to detail; strong risk and control mindsetClear communication with strong stakeholder managementAnalytical problem solving; ability to interpret financial and operational dataAbility to operate effectively across cultures, time zones, and regulatory environmentsProfessional certifications: CPP (Certified Payroll Professional), CPA, or equivalent regional credentialAdvanced proficiency with spreadsheet, database and other software applicationsGrade/Level: 12The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.Our Way Of WorkingWe’re proud to offer you flexibility.
