Who We AreBreast Cancer Prevention Partners works to prevent breast cancer by eliminating our exposure to toxic chemicals and other environmental exposures linked to the disease. BCPP’s work is multi-layered and innovative, effectively weaving together public education, corporate accountability, corporate sustainability, and legislative advocacy strategies to engage the public, move cosmetics companies toward safer products, and secure stricter regulation of the industry. Position OverviewThe Project Trainee will support the Breast Cancer Risk Literacy & Outreach for Organized Farmworker Mobilization (BLOOM) Project, a community-partnered initiative funded by the California Breast Cancer Research Program (CBCRP), focused on increasing awareness of breast cancer risks among farmworker communities in California. This role provides hands-on experience in community-engaged research, public health outreach, and health equity advocacy.Trainees will collaborate with researchers, community organizations, and advocates to develop culturally relevant educational materials, conduct outreach, and contribute to research efforts addressing environmental risk factors such as pesticide exposure.Responsibilities:Assist in developing and delivering educational materials on breast cancer risk, particularly related to environmental exposuresSupport outreach efforts to farmworker communities, including Spanish-speaking and Indigenous populationsCollaborate with academic and community partners on research and program activitiesParticipate in pilot testing and evaluation of educational tools in Kern and Ventura CountiesContribute to the creation of a statewide resource “playbook” for farmworker health educationEngage in advocacy and community empowerment initiativesAttend trainings, mentorship sessions, and project meetingsQualifications and SkillsCandidate must be a CA residentUndergraduate student, community member and/or early-career professionals new to research.Interest in public health, environmental justice, health equity, or breast cancer preventionStrong communication and teamwork skillsCommitment to working with and supporting farmworker communitiesPreferred qualifications and skills (Not Required)Experience in community outreach or advocacyBilingual English and Spanish speakersFamiliarity with farmworker communities or environmental health issuesExperience with social media and content creation for public health issuesSome knowledge of Ventura and Kern Counties environmental health landscapeWhat You’ll GainMentorship from academic and community-based researchersHands-on experience in community-engaged breast cancer researchOpportunities to co-develop educational and outreach toolsSkill-building in research, advocacy, and health communicationTermsLocation: Remote (CA)Salary: Stipend up to $10,000 for training timeHours: 4-6 hours per weekClassification: Temporary (September 2026- June 2027)Benefits: Not EligibleDeadline for submission: June 3rd, 2026To ApplyEmail your resume/CV and a personal statement to Nyisha@BCPP.org.
