Director of Engineering - Fuel Tanks - Auburn Hills, MI Minimum 3 years of experience as a Director of Engineering Venteon is currently seeking a Director of Engineering to fill an opening for a stable automotive manufacturing client in Auburn Hills.Fuel Tank and Delivery Systems experience is a must! Requirements of the Director of EngineeringMaintain a regular presence (in person or through virtual means) and be accessible.Lead technical problem-solving efforts, including design validation, risk assessments, and corrective actions.Support customer change management, cost-reduction initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.Ability to manage multiple employees such that engineering objectives are met.Maintain the capability to formulate and implement solutions to design problems.Drive clear, timely, and accurate communication with engineers, engineering management, and senior leadership within a global, matrixed organization.Ability to plan and execute effectively.Advanced computer proficiencyBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field.Master’s Degree – Engineering or Business (Preferred).Minimum of 10 years’ experience in product engineering.Minimum of 5 years managerial experience.General knowledge of IATF16949 standards as they pertain to this position. Benefits of the Director of EngineeringCompetitive hourly payAdvancement potentialFull timePaid time offMedical / Dental / Vision401k Responsibilities of the Director of EngineeringServe as mentor to all engineers; set the example for professional conduct and the proper application of Engineering standards and thoroughness.Develop FTDS Application Engineering team members, supporting both technical growth and leadership growth.Stay current with trends in technology relevant to the scope of responsibility.Establish and execute Engineering objectives which contribute to the achievement of the Company’s strategic objectives, including:Leadership for new program product and system proposals and RFQ responsesLeadership for new program launch engineering activities following AQP processesLeadership of annual VA/VE activities, including idea generation, internal validation, customer engineering approval and production releaseReallocate resources as required to optimize the output of the department(s).Clear, timely and accurate communication with employees and management.Interface with the directors of other departments in the same region to establish initiatives for improvement and ensure all initiatives are adequately supported and prioritized, including the establishment of strategic and tactical plans for new program support and meeting company's growth goals.Interface with the Engineering directors of other regions to establish common initiatives for improvement and ensure all initiatives are adequately supported and prioritized.Represent Engineering in manager-level and higher customer meetings, when appropriate.Ensure the support of product design standards to optimize performance and minimize scrap.
