We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to provide Obstetric Inpatient (OB/GYN) nursing services within the Navajo Area Indian Health Service. As a proactive health advocate for the American Indian and Alaska Native populations, you will deliver comprehensive, culturally acceptable care in a remote and rural setting. Your expertise makes a direct impact on the health and sovereignty of the Native people.$182,000 - $182,000 a yearLocation: Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC), Shiprock, NMWork Schedule: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM/PM to 7:30 PM/AM); alternating 3 and 4 shifts per week. Includes weekends and holidays.Core Responsibilities• Labor & Delivery: Perform admissions and assessments; manage high-risk cases including trial of labor after C-section, placental abruption, fetal distress, and substance use history.• Postpartum & Couplet Care: Provide post-op C-section recovery, manage "Baby Friendly" initiatives, and administer phototherapy or IV antibiotics for newborns.• Newborn Level II: Assist with umbilical line insertion, intubation, oxygen delivery via blender, and stabilization for transfer.• Clinical Duties: Administer medications (Oxytocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Blood products), manage Jada insertions, and circulate as an OR nurse for surgical procedures.• Flexibility: Floating to other nursing departments (as a sitter, on transport, or to other units) is required based on patient care needs.Candidate Qualifications• Experience: Minimum of 24 months of total nursing experience, with at least 2 years specifically in OB/GYN nursing.• Licensure: Current, valid, and unrestricted nursing license from any U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia.• Certifications:o Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN)o Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)o Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Associationo Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association• Skills: Proficiency in Information Technology/Electronic Health Records (EHR) and a valid motor vehicle operator's license (if required by specific duties).Expectations & Ethics• Cultural Awareness: Must demonstrate respect for American Indian and Alaska Native practices and communicate effectively in English.• Professional Conduct: Adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics and federal standards of business conduct.
