Retirement Plan Optimization Specialist
Overview
In this role, you will advise clients, sales partners, and advisors on New Comparability retirement plan designs and allocations. You’ll assess census data, generate allocation illustrations, and support year-end testing to optimize benefits for owners and highly compensated employees while controlling costs. You’ll work across Compliance, Clients, and Sales teams to ensure accurate funding and ongoing plan design enhancements. This role combines client-facing consulting with hands-on testing and software integration, within a collaborative, hybrid environment.

ResponsibilitiesConsult with Sales, Financial Advisors, and client-facing teams on qualified plan design featuring New Comparability allocationsAnalyze client census data to craft and revise plan designs that maximize targeted groups’ contributions while minimizing funding costsPerform year-end allocation illustrations, testing (discrimination and cross testing), and ensure proper funding of contributionsLiaise with Compliance, Clients, and New Business to gather census information for employer contribution illustrations and year-end testingMaintain end-to-end processes for pre-sale to onboarding and mid-year/year-end operations, adhering to SLA standardsIntegrate and operate the Actuarial Systems Corporation (ASC) and related applications for plan setup, illustration, and testingReview and refresh procedures in response to regulatory, product, or client needsSupport metric reporting for Compliance Mgmt, Sr. Leadership, and Sales organizationsGather statuses and metrics related to plan design projects and testing activitiesAssist in ongoing plan design consultations as required
Key requirements5-8 years’ experience in qualified retirement plansERISA Consulting and Compliance experience with New Comparability and/or age-weighted featuresBachelor’s degree preferred but not requiredExperience with cross testing and related retirement plan provisions (e.g., 401(k), ACP 401(m), 410(b) testing, 401(a)4 cross testing, 416 Top Heavy, 402(g), 415)US-based eligibility to workMilitary experience welcomed as alternate backgroundClient-facing communicationConsultative mindsetAnalytical thinkingActuarial Systems Corporation (ASC)Plan design illustrations and testingKnowledge of nondiscrimination testing and cross-testing methodologies
