Job Description
Southern California Surgery Center is seeking a part-time Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our team in Downtown Los Angeles. This role is ideal for a motivated, professional, and patient-focused provider with experience in cosmetic surgery aftercare, wound care, and patient education.Position SchedulePart-time: 1–2 days per weekSchedule may vary based on patient volume and provider availabilityKey ResponsibilitiesPerform medical clearances for pre-operative patients and patients receiving aesthetic injectable treatments, as appropriate within the scope of practiceConduct post-operative assessments and provide aftercare for patients recovering from elective cosmetic proceduresPerform suture removals and drain removalsAssist with wound care, dressing changes, and monitoring healing progressApply sutures when clinically appropriate and within the scope of practiceProvide professional medical advice, patient education, and post-care instructionsIdentify signs of post-operative complications and promptly communicate any concerns directly to the surgeon who performed the procedure.Document patient visits, assessments, treatments, and instructions accurately in the patient chartMaintain a professional, compassionate, and supportive patient experienceCollaborate with surgeons, nurses, CNAs, MAs, front office staff, and recovery staff to support smooth patient flowQualificationsActive and unrestricted California Physician Assistant license requiredCurrent NCCPA certification preferredMust have prescribing authority and be able to prescribe medications within California PA scope of practice and supervising physician protocolsCurrent American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredPrior experience in urgent care, acute care, emergency medicine, surgical aftercare, or a similar clinical setting required; cosmetic surgery or plastic surgery experience preferredExperience with sutures, suture removal, drain removal, and wound care requiredComfortable evaluating post-operative patients, identifying potential complications, and providing appropriate aftercare instructionsBilingual English/Spanish requiredStrong communication, documentation, and patient education skillsProfessional, dependable, and detail-orientedTeam player with a positive attitude and willingness to support clinic operationsPreferred ExperienceCosmetic surgery or plastic surgery post-op careInjectable clearance or aesthetic medicine settingExperience recognizing common post-operative concerns such as infection, delayed healing, seroma, hematoma, wound separation, or abnormal drainageIdeal CandidateThe ideal candidate is clinically confident, organized, compassionate, and able to work well in a fast-paced cosmetic surgery environment.
