View the comprehensive information about the competitive benefits package on our careers page then scroll down to CENTERS Benefits (click link to view).ResponsibilitiesPart-time Ambassadors will act as the eyes and ears of the Bloomberg Student Center (BSC), supporting Operations Managers by reporting issues, troubleshooting, assisting with the supervision of part-time staff on shift, enforcing policies, and coordinating emergency responses. These employees must maintain a customer service mindset, proactively seeking opportunities to assist and support, and escalating situations to BSC leadership, public safety, and other building partners as needed.This position will work on-site at Johns Hopkins University Homewood Campus. JHU is recognized as America’s first research university, a place that has revolutionized higher education in the U.S. and continues to bring knowledge and discoveries to the world. JHU opened its first-ever student center in August 2025. The 148,000 gross square feet Bloomberg Student Center will transform the student experience by providing spaces, amenities, and opportunities for students who want to socialize, connect, create, and relax. The building is designed to be a welcoming environment for all Hopkins students while extending an invitation to the community through events, programs, and dining opportunities.Essential ResponsibilitiesAssist with on-shift supervision of and feedback to part-time staff for performance coaching and work assignmentPerform routine facility rounds throughout shift for supervision of student staff, troubleshooting and maintaining cleanliness of the equipment and facilitySupport the respond to all medical and non-medical emergencies and provide care; initiate emergency action plan, notify university and local authorities and complete reportsAssist part-time staff with tasks and assume responsibilities of an area if not staffedCommunicate and consistently enforce policies with patrons and staffProvide excellent customer service, facility tours, and resolve guest concernsReport injuries, incidents, member and guest issues maintenance issues, and staff issuesQualificationsEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalentCurrently enrolled Johns Hopkins University student preferredPrevious work experience preferredExperience working in customer service, fitness center, retail or events preferredSkills And AbilitiesAbility to work independentlyAbility to lead a teamAbility to make sound decisionsExcellent communication skills including active listeningService-oriented and able to resolve customer grievancesBasic knowledge of computer skills with the ability to learn new softwareAbility and willingness to enforce policies Work Environment and Physical Demands Work EnvironmentOffice environment/event environmentModerate to loud noiseNon-smoking environment Maintain flexible hours Physical DemandsWalking or working in student center 95% of the work dayMust be able to traverse throughout the building and campus.Regularly ascending/descending building levels and occasionally ladders or stools.Must be able to lift, move and set up items weighing as much as 50 lbs.Must be able to discuss, converse with, and exchange accurate information with patrons, staff, stakeholders, etc.Other DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
