The success of SCC is rooted in the mission of serving the community by "focusing on academic excellence, student success, workforce advancement, and life-long learning within a global society."SCC is seeking Part-time Dreamscape Learn Pod Operators to calibrate virtual reality experiences for students and guest, calibrate our virtual reality (VR) equipment and system, and quality-test virtual reality (VR) experiences.This role primarily requires weekend availability from Thursday through Saturday, with occasional afternoon hours for training.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCarry out daily operations in the Dreamscape Learn (DSL) spaces and ensure impactful VR experiences for students and guestsProvide extended periods of focused attention on time-sensitive tasksGuide participants through virtual reality experiences from beginning to endAssist students and guests with putting on and taking off VR gear, giving directions in a clear and friendly mannerProvide excellent customer service to participants to ensure a positive experienceAssist in troubleshooting VR equipmentAssist Dreamscape Learn staff with special operations and research projectsIdentify when issues need escalation, and report issues appropriately and in a timely mannerPerform regular testing and maintenance of all virtual reality pods and equipmentClean and reset all VR pod equipment between usesAssist participants with checking-in for scheduled VR eventsObserve and operate events on the Dreamscape Learn scheduleEnsure appropriate opening and closing procedures in the Dreamscape Learn facilityEnsure health and safety guidelines are followed to school standardsREQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Section can be combined with Essential Duties Section)Operational understanding of virtual reality hardware and software.Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with a diverse student and community population; professional and approachable demeanorExcellent customer serviceWillingness to continuously learn and adapt to new and innovative technologiesStrong sense of responsibility for equipment and participant safetyAbility to work collaboratively with academic and technical staffStrong verbal and written communication.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh School diploma or equivalent (some post-secondary education in technology, education, or related field preferred)User experience with VR technologiesCustomer service experiencePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS* Normal physical job functions performed in a standard office environment.
